THE
OUTLINES OF THIS TOPIC

It would be too vast to undertake an exhaustive discussion
of popular folk music, which as the lexis implies includes,
or at least it should, the use of musical instruments, each of which
has it's own history that provides particulars of it's origins, progress
and as usual with traditions, it's apparent redundancy and disappearance.
In keeping with a methodical and scientific approach it
would be more correct to ponder a smaller area of popular traditions
that is popular folk songs even though this topic alone is rather vast.
Folk songs do not exclude the use of accompanying musical instruments,
be presumes that they are fundamental components of the song. In 'su
ballu a cantigu', the singing intervenes as melody and rhythm, both
on it's own or accompanied by one or more musical instruments.
In the listing of the characteristics of such folk songs,
we are brought to understand the meaning of the qualifying adjective folk.
